KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (CUEPACS) thanked the government for the RM500 special assistance for support group civil servants announced by the government Wednesday.
"We thank the government for the goodwill gesture but we are also disappointed because we had expected one month bonus for all civil servants," secretary-general Ahmad Shah Mohd Zin said when contacted.
He said Cuepacs hoped that the government would compensate by giving a higher bonus next year.
Some 860,000 civil staff will receive the assistance in two payments before Hari Raya and in December, to reduce their burden for the coming festival celebration and to prepare for the new school term.
It will cost the government RM430 million.
