For that reason, all express buses will be thoroughly inspected by the vehicles inspection team and enforcement officers to ensure road worthiness.
Yesterday, such inspections were carried out at Eva Express Workshop Depot and Express Bus Terminal at Third Mile, in conjunction with ‘Ops Perayaan Chinese New Year.’
The operation is for Jan 21 until Feb 20.
Among those present were public relation officer (PRO) Albert Clement, head of Enforcement Unit Marhainis Nasren and assistant engineer of Vehicle Inspection Unit Samuel Bonki.
The enforcement team will also be deployed at the bus terminals in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri between from 7am until 11pm.
“In between that period, eight officers will be stationed at each of the bus terminals and will be working on two shifts,” said the spokesperson.
Some 200 enforcement officers across the state will be involved, which also include monitoring accident-prone areas.
